Saravanamalar Surarajah, known as Sara, has a strong foundation in academia and educational training. She has over 22 years of experience across various higher educational institutions and corporate environments. She began her career as a lecturer, where she developed expertise in multimedia design, information technology, communication, and curriculum development. Transitioning into training, she discovered a passion for empowering professionals and fostering growth.

She views training as a dynamic, two-way process in which both trainer and learner contribute, learn, and grow together. For Sara, effective training means creating a safe space that encourages open communication, diversity of thought, and continuous personal and career development.

As an accredited HRD Corp trainer, she strengthens the adult learning principles and practical experience to create interactive, engaging, and results-driven sessions. This diverse expertise enables her to connect with participants across industries, helping them achieve their full potential through thoughtfully crafted learning experiences.

Sara has been working as a lecturer teaching various academic programs, including foundation, diploma and degree for more than 22 years. She believes teaching and learning involve more than just the transfer of knowledge; they are about inspiring curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and cultivating a collaborative environment where learners feel empowered to explore and innovate.

Her background includes a wide range of roles in both academic and corporate settings, allowing her to understand the unique needs of individual learners and corporate professionals. Over the years, she has designed and delivered impactful training programs on Innovative Design with Canva, MS Excel for beginners and intermediate learners and MS Word for Academic Success: Formatting your Dissertation.

She has experience in securing research grants, supervising final-year students, and developing curriculum aligned with MQA program standards. Additionally, she has trained learners from diverse industry backgrounds, adapting her approach to meet varied learning needs. By incorporating multisensory techniques—such as kinesthetic, auditory, and visual methods—she ensures that each session engages learners in building new skills or upskilling themselves through a holistic, multi-faceted approach.

Sara’s education started in Vivekananda Tamil School, Brickfields. Later she continued her schooling in Kajang Tamil School and Jalan Bukit Secondary School. Later she completed her upper secondary in Kajang High School. Then, she pursued higher education at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang Selangor where she earned her Bachelor of Computer Science and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, with a specialization in Multimedia.

Sara started her career as a lecturer at Nilai College and continued her journey as an academician in Sunway University for 10 years. Later she worked in Berjaya University College and became a part-time tutor at Open University Malaysia (OUM) teaching web and IT related subjects. She has become an an accredited HRD Corp trainer focusing on creative hands-on and click-along training programs.
